Daniel Hale Samples, age 91, son of the late William and Sara Samples, passed away peacefully at home on September 15, 2023. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Barbara (nee Snider) Samples. He was the loving father of Cathy (Joe) Nogay of Pinehurst, NC, and of Karen (Doug) Olson of Flat Rock, NC. He was the proud grandfather of Evan (Annelise) Nogay of Charlotte, NC, Camden (Dylan) Nogay of Los Angeles, CA, Stephen Olson of Concord, NC, and Alec Olson of Flat Rock, NC.

Following in the footsteps of his beloved grandfather, "Pop", he decided to pursue a career in Law. Following his graduation from Fairmont State College, he completed his law degree at West Virginia University's School of Law. He then served his country as a Captain in the Judge Advocate General's Corps of the United States Air Force. He retired in 1996 after a long and distinguished career with the Internal Revenue Service, specializing in tax law. Mr. Samples was a 50 year resident of St. Clairsville, Ohio, and a longtime member of First Presbyterian Church in St. Clairsville.

Family and friends will be received on Friday, from 6-8 p.m. at Toothman Funeral Home, St. Clairsville. Visitation will be held again on Saturday from 10 a.m. until time of services at 11 a.m. with Erica Harley officiating.  Burial will follow in Union Cemetery, St. Clairsville.
