William Edward "Sonny" Palmer Sr., 86, of Jacobsburg, Ohio passed away on Wednesday, July 31st, 2024, at Cumberland Pointe Care Center, St. Clairsville. He was born October 13, 1937, in Pipe Creek, Ohio, a son of the late Herman Edward Palmer and Bertha May Palmer.

Sonny was retired coal miner from North American Coal Powhatan #6 Mine. He was a member of the Grandview Christian Church on Clover Ridge and a United States Air Force Veteran.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a sister, Helen Irene Boyles.

He is survived by his loving wife, Audrey Daymude Palmer; children, William E. (Danna) Palmer Jr. of Pocomoke City, Maryland, Jerry Wayne (Beulah) Palmer of Clarington, Ohio, Cathy (Byron) Kocher of Powhatan Point, Ohio, and Raymond Palmer of Jacobsburg, Ohio; a sister, Sandra Kay Johnson of Clarington, Ohio, and a brother, Gary Ray (Risa) Palmer of Jacobsburg, Ohio; five grandchildren, Lisa (Terry) Swords, Jason (Brandi Alderman) Kocher, Cassie Nichols, John Tyler, and Russell (Deanna) Kocher; twelve great-grandchildren, Isabella, Kohlton, Kaitlyn, Anderson, Isis, Abbigail, Kayden, Mason, Addison, Alexander, Colton, and Maddison; and one great-great grandchild, Evelyn.

Family and friends will be received on Saturday at the Grandview Christian Church from 11 a.m. until time of funeral services at 1 p.m. with Robert Fraley and Chuck Francis officiating. Burial will follow in Grandview Christian Church Cemetery. Full Military Honors conducted by the Moundsville Honor Guard.

The family would like to say a special thank you to the staff at Cumberland Pointe for their excellent care of Sonny.
