William V. "Bill" Kowalewski, 98, of Maynard Road, St. Clairsville, and formerly of Cleveland, died Friday, February 22, 2019 at Forest Hill Care Center.
He was born August 3, 1920 in Blainesville, Ohio, son of the late John and Mary Zaleski Kowalewski.
Bill had formerly worked at Curtiss-Wright, and G.E. Marquette and as a security guard at the Cleveland Convention Center and the ticket booths for the Cleveland Browns and Cleveland Indians. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and member of the former St. Stanislaus Catholic Church at Maynard.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by brothers, Stanley, Henry, Frank, Tony, Joseph and Kizer Kowalewski and sisters, Agnes Jacovetty, Josephine Kowalewski, Anna Wright, Stella DeMonte, Helen Kupczak, Geneva "Jean" Kowalewski and Marie Hitchcock.
Surviving are his sister, Florence Delbridge of St. Clairsville; special friends, Mary Yeckley and family of the Cleveland area; many nieces and nephews.
Family and Friends will be received Sunday from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Toothman Funeral Home in St. Clairsville. Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be celebrated Monday at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in St. Clairsville with Father Thomas Chillog the celebrant. Burial follows at Union Cemetery in St. Clairsville with Military Honors conducted by Belmont County Veterans Association.
