William E. "Bill" Gossett, 95, of Flushing, Ohio died May 16, 2020 in the Walton Retirement Home in Barnesville.

He was born November 29, 1924 on the family farm in Oco, Ohio, son of the late Paul Gossett and Martha Lyle Gossett.

Bill was a retired superintendent with R. & F. Coal and a farmer. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II earning a Bronze Star and Purple Heart. He was a former Mayor and served on council in Flushing for years. Bill was a member and elder of the Flushing Christian Church and enjoyed following the stock market.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife Mary "Marcella" Jackson Gossett; a son, William Edwin Gossett Jr; brothers, Walter, John, Lyle, Don, Gerald, and Dutch; and a sister Marie.

Surviving are his two children, Jane (James) Brown of Bethesda and Earl Lyle (Debbie) Gossett of Barnesville; a daughter-in-law, Fern Gossett of Flushing; a sister, Ella Hardman of Cardington, Ohio; seven grandchildren, Jodi McGuire, Jimmy Brown, Bruce Gossett, Erin Perlman, Brian Gossett, Adam Gossett and Nathan Gossett; 19 great grandchildren; a special nephew, Matt Saffell and many nieces and nephews.

Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, private visitation and service will be held for family and close friends at the Flushing Christian Church on Thursday from 11 a.m. until time of service at 1 p.m. with Pastor Don Eberhart officiating.  Burial will follow in Rock Hill Cemetery.
