Obituary

WILLIAM PAUL GODDARD

(10/10/33 - 12/18/18)

Our beloved Bill returned to his loving Father's arms on Dec. 18, 2018 at the Medical University of Charleston, South Carolina. He was surrounded and eternally loved by his wife Kathy and their children, Annie (Stu), Paul, Rob (Shannon), grandson Riley (Pa Pa's buddy in life) along with Laura and the loving, caring staff at MUSC. He was predeceased by his mother and father Paul William and Louise Ankenman Goddard and his first wife Johanna.

Anyone that had ever met Bill knew instantly of his love of God, his wife, children, precious grandson and brothers, sisters-in-law and family and friends. He led his life by example of that love with compassion, dignity and caring.

Hunting was his passion in life, taking him on many adventures throughout the years. Bill so loved deer hunting, trout fishing and turkey hunting with son Paul and brother Tom in the forests of Pennsylvania, or Ohio with dear friends Gene and Pat Cook and his grandson Rodney. Bill happily joined his friends Kellie and Claudine Conway at Bob Evans for fellowship throughout the years. His quiet times were spent on his screened porch at home in South Carolina with his wife Kathy, grandson Riley, son Rob daughter-in-law Shannon and nephew Ritch.

Bill was a lifetime member of National Wildlife Turkey Federation and a Charter Member of Murrells Inlet Elks. He was quite successful in his own right, but he was a very humble man. Scholastically he received his degree from Lehigh University in mine engineering receiving the prestigious Old Timers Award from Dupont for Top Scholastics, and a solid gold watch. He enjoyed being a member of Full Gospel Business Men, helping Walter Long with Teen Challenge in West Virginia, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Belmont National Bank, President of Central Division of North American Coal Corporation in Powhatan Point, Ohio.

He would tell you, his greatest, most cherished treasures in life were his God, wife Kathy, children Annie (Stu), Paul, Rob (Shannon), grandson Riley, plus nephews Ritch and Bill, niece Sharon, brothers and sisters-in-law, Dave (Marilyn), children Kathy, Peggy (Frank), Tom (He), Peter, Suzie, and Selina, brother Tom (Margie) and children Kristen (Courtney), Greg (Louise) and families.

We know our precious Bill is at peace as we grieve. It is only because we miss our loving husband, daddy, papa, brother, brother-in-law, uncle and loving friend.

I was not called to be successful

I was called to be faithful

To my God, my family and friends

I was

Forever in our hearts

Peace be unto you

Our warrior
