Obituary

William P. "Phil" Gatti, 87, of St. Clairsville, Ohio died Saturday, December 20, 2014 at Park Health Center in St. Clairsville.

He was born September 29, 1927 in Taplin, Ohio, son of the late Felix Phillip Gatti and Margaret Fry Gatti.

Phil was a retired greens keeper from Belmont Hills Country Club in St. Clairsville and a member of the Christian Apostolic Church in Taplin. He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army and member of the VFW Post 5356 in St. Clairville. He had a love for playing and watching golf. He enjoyed gardening and dearly loved dogs especially boxers. He was an Ohio State Football fan and loved his Lord and his church and all Christian believers.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Paul Gatti; two sisters, Rosemarie Roberts and Beulah Eastham and a nephew, Jason Roberts.

Surviving are his brother, Bernard "Ben" (Nancy) Gatti of Bethesda; a sister, Mary Lou (Gary) Gatti Klamut of Cambridge; two brothers-in-law, Bob Roberts of Bannock and Richard Eastham of St. Clairsville; 5 nephews; 3 nieces; many great nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will be received at Toothman Funeral Home in St. Clairsville on Monday from 3 to 7 p.m. with a worship service at 7 p.m.

Full Military Honors will be provided on Monday in the funeral home at 6:45 p.m. by the Belmont County VFW Honor Guard.

Funeral services will be held at the Christian Apostolic Church in Taplin, Ohio on Tuesday at 10 a.m. with Brother Dan Ponzani officiating. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery, St. Clairsville, Ohio.
