William Earl "Bill" May, 94, of Pensacola, Florida, formerly of Shadyside, Ohio, died October 28, 2023.
He was born August 23, 1929, in Jacobsburg, Ohio, a son of the late William French May and Lucy Rebecca Bennett May.
Bill was a retired employee of C & P Telephone, Southern Bell, and A.T. & T. and a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church. Bill enjoyed volunteering at the Jay Historical Museum and Historical Society and was a member of the Telephone Pioneers.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Albert, Herbert, and Joseph May; and five sisters, Edna Palmer, Bertha Palmer, Myrtle Palmer, Helen Palmer Powell, and Betty Lou Sheets.
Bill is survived by his loving wife, Eleanor Mae Kemp May; six children, Debra (Fred) Garner of Rayland, Ohio, William Richard May of Pensacola, Florida, Nancy Jane (John) Ludtman of Nederland, Texas, Theresa Elaine (Roger) Morris of Follansbee, West Virginia, Susan Elaine Harvey of Jacksonville, Florida, and Lori Michelle (Shannon) Wilson of Daphne, Alabama; a sister, Ethel Bier of Clarington, Ohio; a brother, Arthur "Huck" May of Powhatan Point, Ohio; 14 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will be received on Sunday from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Toothman Funeral Home in Jacobsburg, Ohio, where services will be held on Monday at 11 a.m. with Pastor Dave Hennen officiating. The burial will follow in Powhatan Cemetery.
Full Military Honors will be conducted by the Yorkville VFW Post #4811.
