Wayne Christian Carpenter, 90, of Dover Ridge Rd., Powhatan Point, died February 28, 2019 in Wheeling Hospital.

He was born August 4, 1928 in Powhatan Point, Ohio, son of the late Omar Carpenter and Lula Walters Carpenter.

Wayne was a farmer and retired from Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel's Martins Ferry Plant.  He was a member of Grandview Christian Church. He was a member of the Farm Bureau, Wool Growers Association and the United Steel Workers.

In addition to his parents, Wayne was preceded in death by his wife, Stella Mae Dunfee Carpenter; three sisters, Dorothy Graham, Marie Kriechbaum and Evelyn Holtsclaw; and two brothers, Ray and Floyd Carpenter.

Surviving are three children, Don (Melinda) Carpenter of Dover Ridge, Powhatan Point, Melody (Greg) Fiely of Dayton, Ohio and Gregory (Patty) Carpenter of Cleveland, Ohio; a sister, Opal Jenewein of Powhatan Point; and 9 grandchildren, Frank, Brandon and Ian Carpenter; Alexander, Katarina and Jacob Fiely; and Daniel, Nicholas and Abigale Carpenter.

Family and friends will be received at Grandview Christian Church on Clover Ridge Road, Saturday March 9th from 2 p.m. until time of service at 2:30 p.m. with Wayne Clark officiating.  Burial will follow in Powhatan Cemetery.  Arrangements entrusted to Toothman Funeral Home in Jacobsburg.
