Wayne F. Applegarth, passed away March 29, 2005, at OSU Medical Center surrounded by his family.
He was born in 1937 in Maynard, Ohio, son of the late David and Beatrice Smith Applegarth.
Wayne is survived by his devoted wife of 45 years, Barb; loving daughters, Marsha Hart Fuquay of Dublin, Ohio and Cheryl Ward of Hilliard, Ohio; and 3 precious grandchildren, Rachel (12) Mariah (8) and Brooke(7); a brother, Dick (Donna) Applegarth of Auburn, Maine; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Marge (Mike) Roth of St. Clairsville; brothers, Harold (Ruth) Applegarth of New Athens and Don (Anne) Applegarth of Oakland, California.
Due to an act of love by a donor family, Wayne received a heart transplant in 1992, enabling him to become a loving "Papa" to all his girls for 12 additional years.
Wayne graduated from St. Clairsville High School in 1957 and attended OU, OSU, Franklin University and Columbus Community College. Wayne was an enrolled agent with the IRS and a member of the National Society of Tax Professionals. He was formerly district manager of H & R Block, Franklin County Deputy Auditor, Administrator of Personal Property Tax for Franklin County, President and Treasurer of Lost Hollow Property Owner?s Association (Hocking Hills) and Owner of Apple Tax Service of Hilliard, Ohio, and was an avid motorcycle rider.
Heartfelt thanks to the OSU Heart Transplant Department, the many doctors and nurses over the years, and a special thank you to the doctors and nurses at the MICU at OSU.
Arrangements for both St. Clairsville and Columbus are as follows: Visitation will be Saturday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Toothman Funeral Home in St. Clairsville where the Funeral Services will be on Sunday April 3, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. followed by interment at Holly Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Grove, with Rev. Kim Anderson officiating. In Columbus, family will greet friends on Monday, April 4th from 5 to 7 p.m. at Tidd Funeral Home on Norwich Street in Hilliard, with a Memorial Service to follow at 7:00 p.m.
