Virginia E. Sayre, 90, of St. Clairsville, Ohio died Friday, October 20, 2017 in Park Health Center.

She was born May 21, 1927 in St. Clairsville, Ohio, daughter of the late Walter William Johnson and Mary Ethel Ault Johnson.

Virginia was a loving mother and grandmother and a member of First Presbyterian Church in St. Clairsville. She loved her family, church and country music.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Russell Sayre Sr.; a son-in-law, Richard "Dick" McLeish; two brothers, Lewis and Glen Johnson; two sisters, Betty Porter and Louise Mihalic; and a grandson, Randy McLeish.

Surviving are her son, James R. (Jeanne) Sayre Jr. of Belmont; her daughter, Beverly McLeish of Belmont; a brother, Robert Johnson of St. Clairsville; eight grandchildren, Jim (Holly) Sayre, Jerry (Tracy) Sayre, Jay (Kara) Sayre, Rick McLeish, Lynn (Bob) McLeish, Missi (Tracy) Wallace, Chad (Kathy) McLeish and Andy Jurco; and nine great grandchildren.

The Sayre family would like to thank the staffs and workers of Park Health Center and Amedisys Hospice for their exceptional care.

Family and friends will be received at Toothman Funeral Home in St. Clairsville on Tuesday from 11 a.m. until time of service at 1 p.m. with Rev. Homer Harden officiating. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery, St. Clairsville.
