Koste, Virginia Burkle Bruney, 98 of St. Clairsville, Ohio died Thursday, January 19, 2012 at Forest Hill Retirement Center in St. Clairsville.

She was born April 5, 1913 in Martins Ferry, Ohio, a daughter of the late Ralph Howard Burkle and Lillie Ann Hartline Burkle.

Virginia was a former employee of the Martins Ferry Daily Times, a member of Calvary Presbyterian Church in St. Clairsville, and a former member of Grace Presbyterian Church in Martins Ferry where she taught Sunday School, Bible School and was Congregational Secretary.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Ralph Bruney in 1969 and William Koste in 2000; a son-in-law, Phillip Michael Aspenwall; four brothers, Howard, George, Joseph William, and John Thomas Burkle.

Surviving are a daughter, Sue Ellen Aspenwall of St. Clairsville; three grandchildren, Phillip Michael Aspenwall, Amy Sue Aspenwall, and Ruth Ellen (Atsushi) Sato.

According to Virginia's wishes, there will be no visitation. A private interment will be held at Union Cemetery in St. Clairsville.
