Virginia Mae Kirkland, 96 formerly of Shadyside, Ohio died Saturday, July18, 2009 at Park Health Center in St. Clairsville.

She was born October 7, 1912 in Bellaire, Ohio, a daughter of the late Alonzo Phillips and Alta Meek Phillips.

She was a member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church on Key Ridge, Bellaire.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Boyd Kirkland; brothers, Paul and Russell Phillips; a stepson, Lee Kirkland.

Surviving are a son, David Trigg of Bellaire; a daughter, Wilda (Roy) Cain of Gautier, MS; a stepdaughter, Vera L. Duff of New Concord, Ohio; twin brother, Newell Phillips of Parma, Ohio and brother, Kenneth Phillips of Centerville; three grandchildren, Roy (Tammy) Cain of Gautier, MS., Jay (Brenda) Trigg and Michelle (Terry) Davidson of St. Clairsville; three step grandchildren, Julie (Ken) McGee, Joyce Rothacker, and Jolene Gibson all of New Concord; two great grandchildren, Logan Davidson and Justin Trigg.

Friends will be received at Toothman Funeral Home in St. Clairsville on Wednesday from Noon until time of service at 2 p.m. with Maryann A. Droll officiating. Burial follows in Mt. Zion Cemetery, Bellaire.
