Violet L. Calovini Gossett, 94, of Plainfield Rd., Belmont, died August 31, 2024, at her home surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in Lafferty, Ohio, on May 14, 1930, a daughter of the late Adolph and Mary Hinkle Calovini.

Violet was a member of Assumption Church, Barnesville, as of 2014, prior to that, she was a member of St. Mary's Church, Lafferty, Ohio, where she was a choir member for over 75 years, Eucharistic minister, C.C.D. teacher, lector, secretary of the C.W.C., and a member of parish council.

She retired from Oak View Nursing Home in January, 1992. She was a volunteer of the Living Bread Kitchen, Bellaire, for 20 years.

Violet married Gerald A. Gossett on June 4, 1950. They have 8 wonderful children.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband in May, 2006, a son-in-law, Michael Grammer, sisters, Norma Paytash and Gloria Chini; and a brother, Ronald J. Calovini.

She is survived by her eight children, Karen Grammer of Wheeling, Jerry (Debbie) Gossett Jr. of Wilmington, N.C., Keith (Janet) Gossett of Canal Winchester, OH, Jill (Michael) Clift and Marie (Larry) Compston of Belmont, OH, Beth (Tom) Schofield of Shadyside, OH, Janet Gossett of Bridgeport, Martha (Scott) Jacoby of Hortonville, WI; 23 grandchildren, and 20 great grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will be received Tuesday, September 3, 2024, from 10 a.m. until the time of Funeral Mass at Noon at the Assumption Church in Barnesville. Burial will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lafferty. Arrangements are entrusted to Toothman Funeral Home in St. Clairsville.
