Obituary

Victoria Ann Albers, 78, of St. Clairsville, OH, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 16, 2016. Vicki had her husband, Don, by her side at Forest Hills Nursing Care at the time of her passing.

Vicki was born in the town of Braddock, PA on May 21, 1937. She was the fourth child of the late Stanley and Frances Obremski.

Vicki was married to Donald, J. Albers on September 1, 1962. They met in 1961 when they both worked at Westinghouse in Pittsburgh, PA.

Vicki found joy in staying active and helping others. She loved doing daily pool exercises, both as part of a group and by herself. Vicki regularly traveled to visit her children and grandchildren, whether to celebrate a holiday or just because. She and Don sang "Happy Birthday" over the phone to each and every one of her children and grandchildren every year, something that meant more to them than could ever be expressed in words.

Vicki instilled the importance of faith and family both through her words and actions. Even though she wasn't feeling well, Vicki traveled to celebrate Christmas with her children and grandchildren this past December, the type of selfless act that epitomized the Catholic woman she was.

Vicki was a passionate fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers, Pirates, Penguins and Panthers, and she passed that love for sports along to her children and grandchildren. If Vicki watched a game -- even if her favorite team wasn't involved -- she would find herself passionately cheering for one of the teams anyway. Often times that included yelling at the television.

Vicki approached everything she did with a vivaciousness that could be felt by those around her. A sweet and loving wife, mother and grandmother, she had the ability to make all of her family members feel loved whenever she was around.

Vicki was an active member of St. Mary's Church in St. Clairsville, OH throughout her life. She was employed for 38 years by Andrew Yanok Insurance Agency in St. Clairsville, OH.

In addition to her parents, Vicki was preceded in death by two sisters, Elizabeth Ludwicki and Florence Nalitz.

She is survived by her husband, Don; two brothers, Stanley (Betty) Brenton of Chicago, IL, and Thomas (Kacey) Obremski of Englewood, CO;
She is survived by one daughter Susan (Richard) Yarborough of Westlake, OH; two sons, Christopher (Marcia) Albers of Markleville, IN, and Paul (Susan) Albers of Pittsburgh, PA.
Vicki is also survived by 9 grandchildren, Justin, Ryan, Philip, Patrick, Anna, Mark, Kyle, Luke and Joe.

A vigil service will be held at 5 p.m. Friday, March 18, 2016 at Toothman Funeral Home, 141 S. Marietta Street, St. Clairsville, OH. Visitation will follow the vigil service until 9 p.m.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, March 19, 2016, at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Church, St. Clairsville, OH. Burial follows at Union Cemetery.
