Vera Irene Stroup, 99 of St. Clairsville, Ohio died Thursday, August 9, 2018 at her home.

She was born September 20, 1918 in Salineville, Ohio, a daughter of the late William Ferguson and Elizabeth Allmon Ferguson.

She was a former employee of Sebring Pottery, a 67 year member of Rock Hill Presbyterian Church in Bellaire and 50 year member of Captina Chapter #489 Order of Eastern Star, an Avon Lady,  member of Child Guidance of Bellaire, Bellaire Hospital Auxiliary, United Presbyterian Women, Rock Hill Quilters.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Stroup;  daughters, Jane Stroup and Sandra Givens; a brother, Lewis Ferguson; a sister, Verla Detchon.

Surviving are two children, James (Anne) Stroup of Chino Hills, CA, and Deborah (Mike) Brown of St. Clairsville; sister, Sylvia Mummert of Georgetown, TN; brother, Robert Ferguson of Dothan, AL; nine grandchildren, Stephanie Williams, Tammy Stroup, James Stroup, Jr., Mark Givens, Lori Bagley, Sharon Sims, Ryan Brown, Zachary Brown, and Erin Brown; 12 great grandchildren; 8 great great grandchildren.

Friends will be received at Toothman Funeral Home in St. Clairsville on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday from 6 to 8 p.m.

Services will be held at Rock Hill Presbyterian Church in Bellaire on Saturday at noon with Rev. David Demarest  officiating and Nancy DeStefano Eulogist.

Burial follows in Rock Hill Cemetery, Bellaire.

Memorial contributions may be made to Rock Hill Presbyterian Church.

Captina Chapter # 489 O.E.S will have services at 7 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.
