GIFFIN, Valta Marie, 93, of Raleigh, North Carolina, formerly of St. Clairsville, died December 22, 2012.
She was born on November 24, 1919 in Martins Ferry, Ohio, daughter of the late Forrest C. and Ada Dennis Kinzy.
Valta was a loving mother and grandmother and a homemaker. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in St. Clairsville.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Lewis Giffin; three brothers, Herbert Dean Kinzy, Ralph Kinzy and Lowell Kinzy; and a sister, Goldie Kinzy.
Surviving are a son, John Randall (Donna) Giffin of Raleigh, North Carolina; a daughter, Amy (Bob) Myers of Charlotte, North Carolina; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; a brother, Harold Kinzy; two sisters, Mary Kaptein and Annie Couch.
Family and friends will be received on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Toothman Funeral Home in St. Clairsville, where services will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. with Rev. David Demarest officiating. Burial will follow in Holly Memorial Gardens.
