Valerie Ann Hogan, 68, of St. Clairsville, Ohio died on August 27, 2025, in UPMC Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.  She was born January 21, 1957, in Bellaire, Ohio, the only daughter of the late Kenneth and Nelle Meister Thornton.

Valerie was a retired teacher from Beallsville High School in Monroe County, Ohio. She later worked as a substitute teacher in several schools in Belmont County. She was also a children's Sunday School Teacher at United Christ Methodist Church in Wheeling, West Virginia.

She is survived by her loving husband of 33 years, Thomas M. Hogan and several of her pets which she loved dearly.

Family and friends will be received on Monday at the Toothman Funeral Home, St. Clairsville, from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. with Chaplain Kris Bright officiating. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery, St. Clairsville.

Memorial Contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Belmont County Animal Shelter, or any Animal Rescue Group located in Belmont County.
