Thomas William Thompson, 87, of St. Clairsville, Ohio passed away on Monday, November 11, 2024, at J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, West Virginia. He was born June 7, 1937, in Wheeling, West Virginia, a son of the late Floyd Chester Thompson and Edith Amelia Adkins Thompson.

Thomas was a retired stationary engineer for Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel and later for the Army Civil Service while stationed in Fort Knox, Kentucky. He was a member of St. Clairsville American Legion Post 159. He enjoyed music, playing the guitar and singing. He was a Presbyterian by faith and a United States Navy Veteran.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Rose Marie Thompson; a daughter, Dana Jean Coniff; three brothers, Chester, Charles, and John Thompson; and two sisters, Mary Radcliff and Cora "Cookie" Lynn.

He is survived by his two children, Cindy (Lawrence) Battocletti of St. Clairsville, Ohio and Ruth Thompson, of Elizabethtown, Kentucky; five grandchildren, Joseph (Kayla) Hakr, Rebecca (Brian) Cooey, Jason (Sabrina) Beaver, Andrew Beaver and Michael Thomas; three great-grandchildren, Aden and Addison Cooey and Julien Beaver; two sisters, Violet Pluto of Lawton, Oklahoma and Gladys (Clair) Demerit of Bridgeport, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will be received on Sunday from 4-7 p.m. at Toothman Funeral Home, St. Clairsville and again on Monday from 10 a.m. until time of funeral services at 11 a.m. with Chaplain Kris Bright officiating. Burial will follow in Davis Cemetery, Bellaire, Ohio. Full Military Honors conducted by the Belmont County Veterans Association.

Memorial contributions may be made to a local charity of the donor's choice to benefit children.
