Thomas Virgil McGough Jr., 69, of Bethesda, Ohio died at his home on December 17, 2016.
He was born November 2, 1947 in Wheeling, WV, a son of the late Thomas Virgil McGough Sr. and Winifred O'Malley McGough.
Tom was a retired high school English teacher having taught at several local schools including Bishop Donahue Memorial High School in McMechen, WV, Weirton Madonna High School in Weirton, WV, and Meadowbrook High School in Byesville, OH. He was ordained a priest for the Diocese of Steubenville and had served several local parishes prior to his years as a teacher.
Surviving are his brothers, Michael McGough and his wife Marianne of St. Clairsville and John Patrick McGough and his wife Barbara of Bellaire; a nephew, Dr. Michael Patrick McGough and his wife Alicia of Sunbury, Ohio; a niece Elizabeth Anderson of Virginia Beach, Virginia; a great nephew and niece, Jacob and Anna McGough.
There will be no visitation. Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Funeral Liturgy with Mass on Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2017 at 1:30 p.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in St. Clairsville, with Monsignor George Coyne the celebrant.
Private interment will be held in St. Anthony's Cemetery in Blaine, Ohio. Arrangements are entrusted to Toothman Funeral Home in St. Clairsville.
