Thelma Fredericka Barton, 80 of Wegee Rd., Jacobsburg, Ohio died Wednesday, February 28, 2018 at Dixon Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Wintersville, Ohio.

She was born June 22, 1937 in Jacobsburg, Ohio, a daughter of the late James Grant and Fredericka Fulst Grant.

She was retired from the Belmont County Clerk of Courts Office, a graduate and valedictorian of Centerville High School, and a Methodist.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Barton; several brothers and sisters.

Surviving are five children, Thelma Jean Harclerode of Martins Ferry, Rose Marie Barton of Martins Ferry, Carl A. "Buck" (Lela) Barton of Bellaire, Joseph Edward Barton of Shadyside; and Carla Louise Garcia of California; 8 grandchildren, Bryan Parker, Desiree Bosold, Anna Barton-Rivera, Matthew Barton, Jonathon Barton, Eric West, Ricardo Garcia, and Juan Garcia; 6 great grandchildren, Shawn Barton, Isabelle Barton, Angelus Barton-Rivera, Chesney Swickard, Danni Jean Bosold, and Isabelle Garcia; two sisters, Rossie Barr and Judy Periglosi.

Family and friends will be received at Toothman Funeral Home in St. Clairsville on Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m. and on Monday from 11 a.m. until time of service at 1 p.m. with Pastor Jack Palmer officiating.  Burial follows in Concord Cemetery, Centerville.
