Obituary

Steve Slezak, 90 of Pleasant Grove (Adena), Ohio formerly of Shadyside died Sunday, May 9, 2004 at McGraw Nursing Home, Pleasant Grove.

He was born at Benwood, WV on August 2, 1913 a son of the late Sylvester and Theresa Valentovic Slezak.

Steve was a retired licensed stationary boiler engineer for Consolidation Coal Co. at Georgetown, a member of the Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church and United Mine Workers Local 7690.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Helen Parish Slezak in 1996; his granddaughter Amy Pickering and a brother Sylvester Slezak, Jr.

He is survived by his daughter Emily Jean (Bruce) Pickering of Worthington, OH; his grandson and best fishing buddy Dr. Eric Pickering of Columbus, OH; a brother Michael Slezak of Troup, TX his sisters Mary Krupa, Theresa Manley and Katherine Sabatina all of Shadyside and Julia Kipp of Willoughby, OH.

Family and friends will be received on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Thursday from 10 a.m. to time of services at 11 a.m. at the Toothman Funeral Home, St. Clairsville with Rev. Steve Norden officiating. Burial follows at the Warnock Cemetery.
