Stella DeMonte, age 89, of Maynard Road, St. Clairsville, Ohio, died Tuesday, February 4, 2003 at Ohio Valley Medical Center, Wheeling, WV. She was born on September 16, 1913 at New Lafferty, Ohio, daughter of the late John and Mary Zaleski Kowalewski.

She was a retired waitress working for many years in New York. She was a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church at Maynard.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Domenick DeMonte; six brothers, Stanley, Henry, Frank, Tony, Joseph and Kizer Kowalewski; and three sisters, Agnes Jacovetty, Josephine Kowalewski and Anna Wright.

Surviving are her stepson, Robert DeMonte of Long Island, NY; four sisters, Helen Kupczak, Geneva Kowalewski and Florence Delbridge all of St. Clairsville and Marie Hitchcock of Wheeling, WV; one brother, William V. Kowalewski of Cleveland, OH; two step grandchildren; five step great grandchildren; and a special niece, Jean Strawn of St. Clairsville.

Family and friends will be received at the Toothman Funeral Home, St. Clairsville on Friday from 2 p.m. until time of funeral services at 4 p.m. with Father Tom Graven officiating.Inurnment will be at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Pompano Beach, Florida.
