Sophia Korba Kolodziej of Fairpoint, Ohio, passed away December 20, 2009 at East Ohio Regional Hospital, Martins Ferry. Sophia was surrounded by her dear family and friends during her week's stay at the hospital.

She was preceded in death by her husband Henry "Snuffy" Kolodziej in October 1993. In addition to her husband, she was preceded by her parents Roman and Victoria Korba, and siblings Ray Korba, Stanley "Stub" Korba, Tillie Arigoni, Johnny Korba and Paul Korba.

She is survived by daughter Sandra Kidd and husband Fred of Flushing; son Henry Kolodziej, Jr. and wife Darlene of Fairpoint; grandchildren Allison and Stephanie Kolodziej, Kevin Kidd, and special granddog Chloe; brother Joseph Korba of Bannock; sisters Dorothy Chipka of Strongsville, Mary Ann Spano of Lafferty, Josie Garrett of Brunswick, and Paulette Johns of Akron; sister-in-law Alice Kolodziej Cook of Fairpoint; and dear friends Jeanne Dierkes, Helen Mazol, and Joanne, Helena and Joe Kolanski. Sophia was a long-time, dedicated member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, including the Adult Choir and the Catholic Women's Club, and the Fairpoint Polish Club.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 22, from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM, at Toothman Funeral Home in St. Clairsville, with a vigil prayer service to be held at 3:00 PM. A funeral mass will be held Wednesday, December 23, at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph?s Church in Fairpoint with Fathers Thomas Graven and Dennis Lyden con-celebrating. Graveside services at Union Cemetery followed by a luncheon at the Fairpoint Polish Club.

In lieu of flowers, tributes in Sophia?s name can be made to the St. Clairsville Food Pantry or Belmont County Animal Shelter.
