Obituary

Shirley Lee Helsley Jeffers, 84, of Glencoe, Ohio, died February 1, 2026, at Liza’s Place in Wheeling.

She was born November 9, 1941, in Bellaire, Ohio, a daughter of the late John and Vera Hicks Helsley.

Shirley was a loving mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend. She was a very active member of three churches and played the piano for the former Glencoe United Methodist Church, the Flushing Alliance Church and the Clarksburg Calvary Church. Shirley was a member of the Red Hat Society, the Christian Ladies Group, the Bunco Club, and the Weyer Chapter 515, Order of Eastern Star.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, William Howard “Tojo” Jeffers Sr.; a son, William Howard “Bill” Jeffers, Jr.; a daughter, Sheila Rose Junkins; three sisters, Martha Underwood, Wilda Harrigan and Elda Loughman; and a brother, John Helsley.

Shirley is survived by her two daughters, Pam (Dean) Kresak and Susan (Steve) Hall; five grandchildren, Cammie Hanson, Bethany Junkins, Jessica Jeffers, Kahley Jeffers and Cody Hall; two great grandchildren, Brandon Brooks and Nathan Layman; and many nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday at the Toothman Funeral Home in St. Clairsville, Ohio, where visitation will again be held on Wednesday from Noon until time of funeral service at 1 p.m. Private burial will be held at the convenience of the family in Glencoe Cemetery.

The family would like to thank Shirley's caregivers, Aubrey, Megan, Suzie and the staff’s at Park Health Center and Liza's Place for their excellent care.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Clarksburg Calvary Church.
