Sherman D. "Captain Bill" Beaver Sr., 75, of St. Clairsville died Saturday, February 10, 2007 at his home.
He was born December 21, 1931, a son of the late James E. Beaver Sr. and Erna Tucker Beaver.
Bill was a retired River Boat Captain from Ingram Barge Lines. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of the a member of the American Legion Post #159 at St. Clairsville; a member of Kanawha Valley Lodge # 36 A.F.& A.M. at Buffalo, WV; a member of Royal & Select Masons, Bellaire Council # 87; Royal Arch Masons, Bellaire Chapter 107; a member of Scottish Rite Bodies, Valley of Steubenville; and member of Eagles Aerie # 2541 at St. Clairsville.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a daughter, Sharon; a sister, Polly Ann Parsons; and a brother, James Beaver Jr.
Surviving are his wife of 52 years, Iris Craig Beaver; a son, Sherman "Bill" (Marla) Beaver Jr. of St. Clairsville; three daughters, Phoebe (Ken) Ramsay of St. Clairsville, Eva (Scott) Golec of Sanford, FL and Jody Woods of St. Clairsville; three brothers, Dewitte (Alice) Beaver, Herman (Gilda) Beaver and Kermit (Reba) Beaver; 10 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at Toothman Funeral Home in St. Clairsville on Tuesday from 3 p.m. until time of services at 7 p.m. Masonic services will be held at 7 p.m. followed by American Legion Services at 7: 15 p.m. Services will follow at 7:30 p.m. with Pastors Ed and Christy Moore officiating.
