Sharon Markey Ray Wolodkin, 79, of Cumberland Pointe Nursing Home in St. Clairsville, Ohio, passed on Thursday, November 16, 2023.

She was born March 20, 1944, in Kingwood, West Virginia, the only child of Ellis Markey and Thelma Holmes Markey. She was a member of NewPointe Community Church in Dover, Ohio.

Surviving are her husband, Paul Wolodkin of St. Clairsville, Ohio and her son, David Bryan Ray of Columbus, Ohio, a mathematics teacher at Westerville HS, 3 stepchildren, Rae Ann Wiseburd, Shari Lou (Brian) Beckett, and Scott Wolodkin.

In the class of 1962 at St. Clairsville, she graduated from Mt. Union University in 1965. She retired from St. Clairsville Schools in 1988, where she taught math and science and served as the first Coordinator of the Gifted Program. She was instrumental in the beginning of the Belmont County Spelling Bee and the Close-Up Program. She was a lifetime member of the Ohio Retired Teachers Association. Sharon was also instrumental in the formation of the St. Clairsville Alumni Association.

Visitation will be at Toothman Funeral Home in St. Clairsville, Ohio on Wednesday, Nov. 22, 2023, from 11 a.m. until time of funeral service at 1 p.m. with Pastor Chad Stutzman officiating. Burial will follow in Holly Memorial Gardens in Colerain, Ohio.
