BURKEY, Sara E., 97, of St. Clairsville, died on Saturday, March 15, 2014 at Forest Hill Nursing Home in St. Clairsville.

She was born in Lloydsville, Ohio, on March 2, 1917, daughter of the late Clarence Alexander Clark and Margaret Ault Clark Robison.

Sara was a retired bookkeeper from the Wonder Bread Company and former employee of Community Motors. She was a 1935 graduate of St. Clairsville High School; a member of First Presbyterian Church in St. Clairsville; a member of the St. Clairsville Senior Center and Daughters of America.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Earl Burkey; step father, Paul Robison; a sister, Mary Clark McCullough; a niece, Donna; and a nephew, Joe.

She is survived by her cousin, Brenda Neff of St. Clairsville whom Sara referred to as "the daughter she never had"; cousins, Brian Neff and family of Columbus and Rachelle Neff Hall and family of Texas; two nieces, Betty Raffa and Elva Turner; two nephews, Ed Breining and Allan McCullough; many great nieces and great nephews.

Family and friends will be received on Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Toothman Funeral Home in St. Clairsville, where services will be held on Tuesday at 1 p.m. with Rev. Homer Harden officiating. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery, St. Clairsville.

Sara's request was in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Presbyterian Church or St. Clairsville Alumni Association.
