Sylvia Gwen Scales, 69, of Lafferty, Ohio, died November 5, 2021, at her home.

She was born March 16, 1952, in Washington, Pennsylvania, a daughter of the late James S. Seaman and Helen Virginia Crawford Seaman.

Gwen was a former medical assistant and she served as a volunteer for the St. Clairsville area Council of Churches Food Pantry. She was a member of the Calvary Presbyterian Church in St. Clairsville where she served on various committees and ladies circles. She was a member of the Lafferty VFD Auxiliary. Gwen was a devoted caregiver for friends and family and enjoyed sewing.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Leigh Redick.

Gwen is survived by her husband of 45 years, Henry A. Scales; two daughters, Chris Scales and Carol (Mike) Santone; three grandchildren, Matthew Tomich, Tabitha Tomich and Anthony Santone; and two brothers, Craig Seaman and Wayne Seaman.

Family and friends will be received at Toothman Funeral Home in St. Clairsville, Ohio on Tuesday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Visitation will be held again at Calvary Presbyterian Church in St. Clairsville, Ohio on Wednesday from 12 p.m. until time of funeral service at 2 p.m. with Pastor Paul Todd officiating.  Private burial will be held at the convenience of the family in Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Lafferty.
