Ruth C. Harris, affectionately known as Gram, 89 of East Richland, St. Clairsville, Ohio died Thursday, August 27, 2009 at her home.

She was born August 26, 1920 in Robinson Township, Pennsylvania, a daughter of the late Raymond Spurgeon Copeland and Anna Mary Lois McKirhan Copeland.

Ruth was a retired teacher from the Flushing High School, a member of East Richland Evangelical Friends Church, and the Belmont County Retired Teachers Association, a graduate of Muskingum College, and a St. Clairsville Council of Churches Food Pantry volunteer for many years.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert A. Harris; a son, Richard Ray Harris; and a brother, Clarence R. Copeland.

Surviving are three daughters, Vicki L. (Patrick) Ballog of Westerville, Ohio, Robyn A. "Bobbi" (Joseph) Huml of St. Clairsville, and Patti J. (Howard) Spengler of Woodsfield; brother, William M. (Lois) Copeland of Hoffman Estates, Illinois; sister, Lois E. Copeland of Toledo, Ohio; 9 grandchildren, Tim Harris, Matt (Angel) Arbenz, Lyn Ballog, Jamie (J.R.) Yeater, Jason (Caroline) Ballog, Wendy Huml (Kim Cox), Nikki (Rusty) Coultas, Rikki (Josh) Boston, Justin Spengler; 12 great grandchildren, Cody Ray Harris, Logan Harris, Preston Yeater, Payton Yeater, Kelsey Cox, Kourtney Cox, Victoria Coultas, Mitchell Coultas, Noah Coultas, Gabriella Boston, Zander Boston, and Mattie Arbenz.

Friends will be received at the Toothman Funeral Home in St. Clairsville on Saturday from 2 to 4 & 7 to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 2 to 4 & 6 to 8 p.m where services will be held on Monday at 1 p.m. with Rev. Wayne Ickes officiating.

Burial follows in Holly Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Grove, Ohio.
