Russ Thornton, 58 of Glencoe, Ohio died Thursday, December 28, 2006 at Belmont Community Hospital in Bellaire.

He was born in Bellaire on May 10, 1948 a son of Betty Helms Thornton and the late Russell A. Thornton, Sr.

Russ was an employee of the Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corp. Martins Ferry Plant. He was an army veteran of the Vietnam War, a lifetime member of VFW Post 5356 at St. Clairsville, a member of American Legion Post 632 at Glencoe and a Methodist by faith.

He was preceded in death by his father Russell Thornton, Sr.

He is survived by his wife, Karon Doggett Thornton; his mother Betty Helms Thornton; children Russa Beckett (Bob), Erika Thornton (Jason), Alisa Thornton and Seth Thornton all of Glencoe; sisters Sharon Olexo of Key Ridge and Colleen Seckman of Glencoe; grandchildren Isaac Donahue, Brittney Beckett, Bryanna Beckett, Bradyn Russell Edward Beckett and Jadyn Thornton.

Family and friends are invited to attend graveside services at the Warnock Cemetery on Sunday at 2:45 p.m.

Toothman Funeral Home, Jacobsburg is handling the arrangements for the family.
