Obituary

RANKIN, Roy Charles, 84, of Shadyside, Ohio died Thursday, November 22, 2012 at his home.

He was born in Armstrongs Mills, Ohio, May 20, 1928, son of the late Charles Cecil "Burns" Rankin and Sadie May Blankenship Rankin.

Roy was a retired employee from Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel's Martins Ferry Plant. He was an Army Veteran of the Korean War and a member of the American Legion Post 521 in Shadyside. He was also a member of the International Alliance of Theatrical and Stage Employees Local 64 in Wheeling working at the Capitol Music Hall, Jamboree USA and the Civic Center all in Wheeling.

Surviving are his daughter, Connie Jo (Mark) Miller of Shadyside; his son, Roy Dennis (Brenda) Rankin of Shadyside; his loving companion of 40 years, Sharon Adamson; two grandchildren, Melissa Jo (Ryan) Petschel, Michael York (Gulnaz) Rankin; three great grandchildren, Macie Jo Wolf, Nicole and Claire Petschel.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, York Alvin Rankin; and a brother, Richard Moore.

Family and friends will be received on Sunday from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Toothman Funeral Home in Jacobsburg, where services will be held on Monday at 1 p.m. with Minister John Wright officiating. Burial will follow in Powhatan Cemetery.

Full Military Honors will be conducted by the Belmont County Council of American Legions on Monday at 1 p.m. in the funeral home.
