Ronald Vicker, 71, of St. Clairsville, Ohio, peacefully transitioned to his new home surrounded by his loving family. He passed away on Tuesday, November 30, at home.
He was born in Martins Ferry, Ohio, on August 6, 1950, the youngest son of Frank and Nellie Spinda Vicker.
Ron was a graduate of St. Clairsville High School and a graduate of Ohio University, Athens, Ohio. He retired from the R. E. Burger Plant, First Energy, Dilles Bottom, Ohio, as a control room operator after 43 years. He was a member of the Utility Workers Union of America, Local 350, where he served as Treasurer for 38 years. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, St. Clairsville and formerly St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, Maynard, Ohio, and a member of PNA Lodge 455.
Ron was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle. He enjoyed gardening, golfing, being outside mowing the lawn, sitting around the firepit, attending Jamboree in the Hills, traveling, listening to music especially country, giving history lessons to his relatives and friends, following the weather, reading books especially about the Civil War, and watching tv and movies. He was an avid Pittsburgh Steeler's fan and followed The Ohio State University Buckeyes and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish! He liked to quote movie lines; his favorite being from Forrest Gump "life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you will get!" He always enjoyed giving a political opinion or two. He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years Kim M. Paul Vicker, his beautiful daughter Suzanne M. (Paul) Pubal, his adorable granddaughter Emily M. Dubinsky whom was the apple of his eye! Ron is survived by his two elder brothers Richard (Linda) Vicker and John E. (Donna Jean) Vicker along with his sister-in-law Carrie J. (Robert) Winiesdorffer, and mother-in-law Rhoda J. Tekely Paul, all of St. Clairsville. His nieces Lisa (John) Abbey, Lori (Ryan) Guthrie, Samantha (Matt) Amway, and his nephew Zachary (Emma Hile) Winiesdorffer; also many great nieces and nephews. Also his grand fur babies Belle, Milo, Peanut and Jelly.
Family and friends will be received on Friday, Dec. 10 th from 3-7 pm at Toothman Funeral Home, St. Clairsville, where vigil services will begin at 3 pm followed by PNA services. Mass will be celebrated on Saturday at 10:30 am at St. Mary's Catholic Church with internment at Union Cemetery. Masks and social distancing are requested.
