Obituary

Ronald D. Saffell, 68 of East Captina Highway, Jacobsburg died Monday, November 17, 2003 at University Hospital, Morgantown, WV after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born at Jacobsburg, February 4, 1935 a son of the late Dorothy Caldwell Saffell Broomhall.

Ron was a 1952 graduate of Powhatan High School, an employee of the former Ohio Ferro Alloys plant at Powhatan Point, a retiree of Consolidated Aluminum (Ormet) at Hannibal and farmed the family farm in the Captina Valley where he was born and raised. He was an advisor for 33 years for the Indianola 4-H Club, a board member of the Belmont-Monroe Farm Service Agency, a member of Amity United Methodist Church at Steinersville and an avid OSU Buckeye fan.

In addition to his mother he was preceded in death by a grandson.

Surviving are his wife of 44 years, Marvelyn Stottlemyer Saffell whom he married on December 24, 1958; his daughters, Debra (Roger) Ogilbee, Denise (Mark) Johnson and Rhonda (Randy) Imhoff all of Powhatan Point and Karen (Jim) Bryan of Delaware, OH, his sister, Margie (Tom) Lucas of Powhatan Point and his grandchildren; Ross, Duane, and Ryan Obilbee; Alana Johnson; Corey, Ashley, Randa and Cortney Imhoff; Kelsi, Preston and Emily Bryan; other family members and friends.

Friends may call on Tuesday 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Toothman Funeral Home, Jacobsburg where services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. with Rev. Theresa Bobot officiating. Burial will follow in Powhatan Cemetery, Powhatan Point.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Belmont County 4-H Endowment Fund or Amity United Methodist Church.
