Obituary

Ronald John Gregan, age 62, of St. Clairsville, Ohio, died Sunday, November 20, 2005 as the result of an apparent heart attack. He was born January 25,1943 in Greensboro, Pennsylvania to Martin and Catherine Gregan who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by a nephew, Martin Gregan III.

Surviving are his wife, Linda Golden Gregan; their three children, Rhonda Lynn Gregan Ondash and her husband Ed of Streetsboro, Ohio, Ronald W. Gregan and his wife Jennifer Jeffers Gregan of Shadyside, Ohio, Matthew John Gregan of Las Vegas, Nevada; five grandchildren, Kayla and Joanna Ondash and Jacob, Haylee and Alexandria Gregan.

Also surviving are four brothers, Martin S. (Dorothy) Gregan Jr. of White Plains, Maryland, Thomas E. (Carol) Gregan of Mascedonia, Ohio, Daniel A. (Debie) Gregan of Fayette City, Pa. and James M. (Marcia) Gregan of Mt. Morris, Star Route, Waynesburg, Pa.; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Ellis and Karen Golden Corley of Blackstone, Va.; Rebecca Yahner Vieltorf and her husband Steve of Fairlawn, Ohio and their three daughters, Lauren, Hailey and Meghan; nieces and nephews.

Ron graduated from Fairmont State College in 1967; he later received his masters degree from West Virginia University. He taught school in the local area at Martins Ferry High School, Triadelphia High School, Brooke High School and retired from St. Clairsville High School. He coached athletics at each school and was the head football coach at Bridgeport High School. Ron was impressed with the athletes in the area. He valued his years as a teacher, and he valued his time as the St. Clairsville defensive coordinator serving under head coach George Strager.

Ron had a strong belief in God and was a true friend to many. Besides being missed by family, he will be missed by his golfing buddies. He embraced life and enjoyed each moment. Jamboree in the Hills will never be the same. If prizes were given to grandfathers for loving and caring for his grandchildren, Ron would be a winner. He was a good man.

Family and Friends will be received on Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. at the Toothman Funeral Home in St. Clairsville, where services will be held on Thursday at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow at Union Cemetery in St. Clairsville.
