Myers, Roger Wayne, Sr., 55 of Bellaire, Ohio died Friday, March 30, 2012 at Wheeling Hospital.
He was born February 5, 1957 in Bellaire, Ohio, a son of Wilma McMahon Myers and the late William Edward Myers.
Roger was a former employee of Ohio Valley Coal's # 6 mine and Harrison Mining; a Christian, member of Neff's Rod & Gun Club, Son's of the American Legion in Neffs and the NRA.
Roger was a devoted father to his three sons. He taught them about respect, having courage, being a hard worker, and embracing the love of family. He was known as "Pappy" to his four grandchildren, and all four of them loved him dearly. As infants, their tiny hands were always drawn to his big, bushy beard. The babies adored him. As the burly man that he was, he was such a gentle soul.
Although Roger faced many life obstacles, especially losing his wife, Renee, in 2009, he pulled through with strength. He never hesitated to offer a helping hand to others, and never hesitated to speak his mind too. We loved him for this.
Roger enjoyed working on motorcycles and was currently working on a trike for a good friend. He loved the open road when riding and formed many friendships over the years. Now, when we hear the roar of a motorcycle starting up, we will think of Roger.
There is an empty space in our hearts, especially in the hearts of his children. No one can replace "Dad" or "Pappy," but we can be sure he will live on every day in our memories.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his wife, Renee M. Castricone Myers.
Surviving in addition to his mother of Bellaire; are three sons, Roger W. (Brenda) Myers, Jr. of St. Clairsville, Jason A. (Glenda) Myers of Bellaire, and Isaak D. Myers of the home; brothers and sisters, William E. (Vickie) Myers, Jr. of Jacobsburg, Debbie (Jeff) Rankin of Jacobsburg, and John Myers of Bannock; four grandchildren, Annie, Jade, Colton, and Gage Myers; many nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at Toothman Funeral Home in St. Clairsville on Tuesday from 3 to 9 p.m. where services will be held on Wednesday at 12 Noon with Rev. John Jackson officiating. Burial follows in Mt. Zion Cemetery, Bellaire, Ohio.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Isaak Myers Trust Fund, c/o Belmont Savings Bank, Bellaire, Ohio.
Following the cemetery committal service, family and friends are invited to attend a dinner at the Neff's American Legion.
