Roger Kent Lucas, a lifelong resident of Centerville, Ohio, gave up the good fight with cancer, Dec 16, 2009, at home. He was a husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. Roger was born Nov 3, 1940, to Kenneth and Edna Workman Lucas, both of whom predeceased him. He graduated from Centerville HS in 1958 where he excelled in football, basketball and baseball. He married his high school sweetheart Ruth Ann Kurth, who passed away in 1993. He later married Frances Ault (Stonebraker), who has been his friend, homemaker, partner, caretaker and loving wife.

Roger has spent his lifetime farming, which he loved, in between working at Nos 3 & 4 mines and the Ohio River dock of North American Coal Company. Over the years he volunteered his time to attend to numerous boards and associations in the pursuit of agricultural, conservation and water issues of Belmont County.

Roger is survived by his loving wife Frances, sons, Jeffery (Mary Ann) of Belmont and Kevin of Pasadena, CA, daughter Terri (Chuck) Earliwine of Centerville. Grandchildren include Nicole, Courtney, James and Devin Earliwine, and Megan and Andrew Lucas. Step children include Donna Grant (Darrell), Jeanette Brooks (Todd), Keith Stonebraker (Sandy) and Lori Commisso (Joe). There are numerous step grand children and great grandchildren.

Visitation and services at Toothman Funeral Home, Jacobsburg, will be held Friday, Dec 18, 2009, during the hours 2:00 ? 4:00 and 6:00 ? 8:00 with services on Saturday at 11:00, with Pastor Edward Eberhart and Donald Eberhart officiating. Burial will be at the Holly Memorial Gardens, Colerain, Ohio immediately following services.

In lieu of flowers, tributes in Roger?s name may be made to the Centerville Concord Presbyterian Church, Smith Township Volunteer Fire Department or American Diabetes Association.
