Rodney Lee Gheen Sr., 69, of Glencoe Rd, Belmont, Ohio, died Wednesday, May 8, 2024, in Wheeling Hospital. He was born March 7, 1955, in Pomeroy, Ohio, a son of the late Sanford W. Gheen and Golden M. McCloud Gheen.

Rodney was a retired heavy equipment operator for IUOE Local 18. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping, and being in the outdoors. Most of all he loved spending quality time with his family and his dog, Elsa. He was a United States Army Veteran.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by an infant sister.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Carol Stevens Gheen; his children, Rodney L. (Missy) Gheen Jr.; Dr. Trisha (Brian) Roth, Tonya (Ulises) Mendoza, Jeananne (Cody) Applegarth, and Austin Gheen; grandchildren, Ryan Ball, Jacob (Amanda) Ball, Grant Gheen, Adler (Kait) Roth, Summerann Roth, Kenslee, Isabella, Alicia (Ed) Wilson, Ashton Mendoza, and Angelina Applegarth.; great grandchildren, Laikyn, River, Braeden, and Alaric; a brother, Frederick A. (Mary) Gheen, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will be received on Monday from 4 p.m. until time of funeral services at 7 p.m. at the Toothman Funeral Home in Jacobsburg with Ed and Christy Moore officiating. Full Military Honors conducted by the Belmont County Veterans Association.
