Robert Lee "Smitty" "Smitt" Smith, 76, of Maynard, Ohio, died March 18, 2024, in East Ohio Regional Hospital, Martins Ferry.

He was born in Martins Ferry, Ohio, July 9, 1947, a son of the late Harold and Hazel Harris Smith.

Smitty was a retired welder and employee of Mayflower Vehicle Systems in Shadyside. He was a U.S. Army veteran having served during the Vietnam War being trained as a radio operator and mountain range rescue and repelling. Smitty was a member of the American Legion Post #525 in Adena and a member of the Maynard Sportsman's Club.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Tommy, Leonard, Dave and Joe Smith.

Smitt is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Linda Lee Lennex Smith; two daughters, Tammie Smith and Angie Smith Riffle and her husband, Jerry Riffle; four grandchildren, Matt Riffle, Austin Smith, Zack Riffle and Laken Young; two sisters, Eva Zimmerman and Lillie Monahan; two special friends, Matthew and Andy Goletz; nieces, nephews and friends.

Family and friends will be received at the Toothman Funeral Home in St. Clairsville, Ohio on Friday, March 22, 2024, from 2 – 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. until time of services beginning at 7:30 p.m., with Full Military Honors conducted by the Belmont County Veterans Association, followed by a celebration of life led by the grandchildren.
