Robert G. Porterfield, 76, of St. Clairsville died Tuesday, December 17, 2002 at Peterson Rehabilitation Hospital, Wheeling, WV. He was born August 5, 1926 in St. Clairsville, Ohio, son of the late Glenn Alexander Porterfield and Georgia Dean Hanson Porterfield.

He was a retired employee from United Dairy at Martins Ferry; a member of the Calvary Presbyterian Church at St. Clairsville; a member of the St. Clairsville Ruritan Club; National Board of directors for the Ruritan; Belmont County Fair Board; and the Area 4-H Advisory Council.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sarah Lee Porterfield; and two brothers, Lyle and Kenneth Porterfield.

Surviving are her two sons, Larry Porterfield of Belton, MO and Kirke Porterfield of St. Clairsville; a sister, Martha McBurney of Columbus, Ohio; six grandsons, Jason Porterfield of Cleveland, OH, Alex Porterfield of Orlando, FL, Brian, Kevin, Blake and Douglas Porterfield all of St. Clairsville.

Family and friends will be received at the Toothman Funeral Home, St. Clairsville, Ohio on Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. and on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. where services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. with Pastor Laurie Armstrong officiating. Burial will follow in Belmont County Memorial Park Cemetery, St. Clairsville.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Calvary Presbyterian Church or the St. Clairsville Ruritan Club.
