Robert P. "Bob" Schmitt, also known by "Smitty", 64, of St. Clairsville, Ohio died Monday, March 12, 2018 in Wheeling Hospital surrounded by his family.

He was born February 19, 1954 in Bellaire, to the late William Schmitt and Sally Hunn.

Bob was a 1972 graduate of Bellaire High School, a member of the UMWA, FOPA, NRA and visitor of various St. Clairsville establishments including the Newellstown Diner. He was employed by Ohio Valley Coal, Powhatan No. 6 Mine for 45 years.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by step-mother, Marie Schmitt; grandmother, Ruby Nelson; sister, Linda Parkhurst; father and mother-in-law, Samuel (Tina) Carcione; brother-in-law, Mike Kotlas; sister-in-law, Cassandra Spigarelli and nephew, Scott Yoho.

He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Kim Carcione Schmitt; a son, Rob (Chrissy Albus) Schmitt of St. Clairsville; two daughters, Kaitlyn (Justin) Hermsen of Waukesha, WI, Cameron (P.J.) Jones of Wheeling, WV; seven grandchildren with an eighth on the way; an aunt Bee; a brother, Bill (Penny) Schmitt of Bellaire; a sister, Sherry (Joe) Tweedlie of Colerain; step-sister, Cheri  Krupa of Martins Ferry along with several loving in-laws, nieces, nephews and friends.

A private service will be held for immediate family.  A Celebration of Life Memorial will be planned later this year.
