Robert Embry Johnson, 83 of St. Clairsville, Ohio died Tuesday, May 27, 2008 at Shadyside Care Center in Shadyside, Ohio.

He was born in Waverly, Tennessee on August 12, 1924, a son of the late James Emmett Johnson and Bessie Tankerley Johnson.

He was a retired carpenter from the Carpenter?s Union of Florida, a member of the St. Clairsville Church of Christ, and a Navy veteran of WWII.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Robert E. Johnson, Jr.; a grandson, Steven Summers; and a brother, James Emmett Johnson, Jr.

Surviving are his wife, Arla Delores Mellott Johnson; children, Donna (John) Noling of St. Clairsville, Karen Summers of St. Clairsville, and Harvey (Teresa) Johnosn of East Lansing, Michigan; a brother, Brown (Martha) Johnson of Franklin, North Carolina; a sister, Dorothy (Raymond) Nelms of Brentwood, Tennessee; 7 grandchildren, Brad, Ryan, and Sarah Noling, Sean Johnson and Megan (Jack) Johnson Jackson, Andy and Amy Summers; 2 great grandchildren, Courtney and John.

There will be a memorial service held at the St. Clairsville Church of Christ at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Church of Christ in St. Clairsville.
