Obituary

Robert Gene "Bob" Bruhn, 95 of St. Clairsville, Ohio, died Monday, July 28, 2025, in Wheeling Hospital. He was born in Wheeling, West Virginia on October 31, 1929, a son of the late George M. and Martha Johnson Bruhn.

Bob was a 1948 graduate of McKinley Vocational High School in Wheeling. He worked as a truck mechanic for 19 years at Wheeling White Truck Co., and 14 years at North American Coal Co., before finishing his career with Richland Township having completed 13 years before his retirement in 1994. He also retired as a 1st Sergeant from the West Virginia Army National Guard and U.S. Army after serving 21 years. At the time of his death, he was the oldest member of the 150th Armored Cavalry.

Dedicated to service and his community, Bob also served in the St. C. Volunteer Fire Dept. for 28 years. He was a member of the former Belmont Lodge #16 F. & A.M., serving as Tyler for 35 years and is currently a member of Weyer Lodge #541 having served as Tyler an additional 5 years. Bob was a member of Thoburn United Methodist Church.

Bob and his loving wife of 73 years, Patricia Gary Bruhn, were united in marriage on October 19, 1951, and they have two daughters, Marcia Lynn Bruhn Barker and Pamela Sue Bruhn. Also surviving are a sister, M. Katherine (Manuel) Bruhn-Zarate, five step-grandchildren, and numerous great and great-great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Carl L. Barker and a sister, Dorothy Bruhn (Bruce) Heil.

Bob enjoyed smoking his pipe, puzzling, gambling, and he was an avid fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes and Pittsburgh Steelers. He will be sadly missed by awesome neighbors and friends.

Family and friends will be received on Sunday, August 3, 2025, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., with Masonic Service at 4:45 p.m. at the Toothman Funeral Home in St. Clairsville, where funeral services will be held on Monday at 11 a.m., with Rev. Jeffrey Croft officiating. The burial will follow in Union Cemetery, St. Clairsville.
