Robert "Bob" Bonnell, 83 of Hutchinson Drive, St. Clairsville died Monday, May 5, 2003 at Forest Hill Nursing Home, St. Clairsville. He was born at Wheeling on November 29, 1919 a son of the late Harry and Clara Belle Baker Bonnell.
Bob was an employee of C & P Telephone at Wheeling, retiring due to illness in 1974 with 33 years of service. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church at St. Clairsville. He was also a member of Osiris Shrine, Wheeling and Past Monarch of El Tor Grotto, Wheeling where he was a member of the Marching Patrol and was the last Demolay Dad for St. Clairsville Chapter of Demolay, a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America and a Life Member of the Communications Workers of America.
Bob served in the U.S. Army during World War II with Headquarters of the 596th Signal Air Warning Battalion.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by brothers, Harold and Homer Bonnell and sisters Thelma Bringman and Catherine Holland.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Nora Mae "Betty" Clark Bonnell, his sons Robert W. Bonnell and his wife Kathy and Kenneth L. Bonnell and his wife Judy all of St. Clairsville, his sister Virginia Wolf of Wheeling Island, grandchildren Kim, Jim, Kristin and Jennifer and great granddaughter Audrey Elaine Lowe and was a very special uncle to several nieces and nephews in Atlanta, Ga.
Friends will be received on Thursday 6 to 9 p.m. at the Toothman Funeral Home, St. Clairsville where services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. with Rev. Homer Harden officiating. Burial follows in Union Cemetery, St. Clairsville.
