Richard Waye "Dick" Thornburg, 77, of St. Clairsville, Ohio died March 21, 2021 in Wheeling Hospital, Wheeling, WVa.

He was born May 5, 1943 in Martins Ferry, Ohio, son of the late John Waye Thornburg and Helen Costello Thornburg.

Dick was a loving husband, father and grandfather who loved the lord and his family. He was a retired employee of Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel's Mingo Junction Plant. He was an active member of the East Richland Evangelical Friends Church and was a member of the Indian Run Boat Club at Piedmont, Ohio. Dick enjoyed woodworking and the outdoors. He was an avid water skier, snow skier, a scuba diver, he loved sports and the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Dick is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Jo Ann Alexander Thornburg; two sons, Richard Waye (Diane) Thornburg Jr. and Chad Michael (Amber) Thornburg; four grandchildren, Alex and Andy Thornburg and Nathan and Alaina Thornburg; a sister, Barbara Collins; ten nieces and nephews; eighteen great nieces and great nephews.

Due to the Covid-19 Pandemic, social distancing and facial coverings will be required. Family and friends will be received on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Toothman Funeral Home in St. Clairsville, Ohio, where services will be held on Thursday at 1 p.m. with Rev. Dr. Jerry Wenger officiating.
