Obituary
Richard Newell, Sr., age 63, died Thursday, March 4, 2004 at Aultman Hospital, Canton. He was born Sept. 15, 1940 at Bellaire, son of the late William and Gale Schramm Newell.
He was a retired employee from North American Coal Company # 3 mine and a U. S. Navy veteran of the Korean War.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Joann Meholovitch Newell; and a brother, Bill Newell.
Surviving are two sons, Richard Newell, Jr. of Cardington, Ohio and James A. Newell of Atlanta, Georgia; a daughter, Penny Jo Newell of Moundsville, WV; four brothers, Donald of Jacobsburg, Charles of Florida, Dwayne of Bridgeport and Burt of Bellaire; two sisters, Gale Worley of Jacobsburg and Debbie Swift of Arizona; and six grandchildren.
Private services were held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements were handled by Toothman Funeral Home in St. Clairsville.
