Spano, Richard James Sr., 76, of Lafferty, Ohio died October 7, 2010 at home.
He was born October 30, 1933 in Lafferty, Ohio, son of the late Joseph Spano Sr. and Catherine Surufka Spano.
Richard was retired from the Belmont County Engineers Department and from North American Coal Co. No. 5 mine. He was a U.S. Army veteran.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Joseph Spano Jr. and two sisters, Mary Bishop and infant sister, Shirley Spano.
Surviving are his wife, Mary Ann Korba Spano; a son, Richard (Kim) Spano of Bannock, Ohio; a daughter, Tina Eberle and a granddaughter, Tiffany Eberle of Lafferty; five brothers, Jack (Joan) Spano of Midway, Ohio, George Spano and Frank (Jean) Spano both of Flushing, Willard Spano of Indiana and Albert (Karen) Spano of New Athens, Ohio; two sisters, Catherine Kovacs of Lafferty and Cindy (Rick) Sykes.
Family and friends will be received at Toothman Funeral Home in St. Clairsville, Ohio on Saturday from 5 to 8 p.m., where services will be held on Sunday at 1 p.m. with Rev. Jerry Wenger officiating. Burial will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Lafferty.
The Belmont County Council of Veterans of Foreign Wars will conduct Military Honor Services on Sunday at 12:45 p.m. in the funeral home.
