Richard Lee Simmons, 69, of Jacobsburg, Ohio, passed away on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, at his home. He was born January 7, 1956, in Glen Dale, West Virginia, a son of the late Merlin Reed "Muggs" Simmons and Stella Lillian Zelaski Simmons.

Richard was a retired coal miner. He worked at the North American Number 6 Coal Mine in Powhatan as well as Bailey and Schumaker Coal Mines. He was working as a security guard at Wheeling Island Casino. He was a member of the UMWA and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He loved watching sports, especially the West Virginia Mountaineers, Boston Red Sox and the Pittsburgh Steelers. He enjoyed the camp life walking in the woods and looking for petrified wood.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Connie Saffell Simmons in 2022.

He is survived by his children, Carrie (Ty) Moore, Kara (Josh) Sipos, Stephen and Chris Simmons; five grandchildren; two brothers, Donny (Brenda) Simmons and Davey (Cathy) Simmons; and his two dogs, Max and Daisy.

As per his wishes, no visitation or funeral services are planned.
