Obituary

Richard Lee "Dick" Palmer, 80 of Dilles Bottom, Ohio died Wednesday, July 27, 2016 at Wheeling Hospital while surrounded by his loving family.

He was born March 21, 1936 in Dilles Bottom, a son of the late Charles Palmer and Anna Lasko Palmer.

Dick was a retired river boat captain. He piloted the ferry between Dilles Bottom and Moundsville for many years and later piloted for Consolidation Coal Company.

He loved his wife and family, scuba diving, camping, and his truck.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles and Robert; a sister, Mary Ann.

Surviving are his wife, Phyllis Burkhart Palmer; five children, Anna Marie (John) Wikert of Powhatan Point, Dickie (Connie) Palmer of Shadyside, Mindy (Bruce Wilk) Russell of South Bend, IN, Tia Pace of Rome, Georgia, and Jason (Tonya) Palmer of Jacobsburg; sisters, Mandy Mohney and Kathy Burkhart of Bellaire, and Nancy Carrick of Bridgeport; brothers, Jim Palmer of Bellaire, and John Palmer of Martins Ferry; twelve grandchildren, Angela, Michelle, Dennis, Danielle, Ashley, Jennifer, Chad, Andi, Austin, Lexi, Chase, and Dillon; eleven great grandchildren.

Friends will be received at Toothman Funeral Home in Jacobsburg on Monday from 2 to 4 & 6 to 8 p.m. where services will be held on Tuesdsay at noon with Pastor Terry Hoffman officiating.

Burial follows in Powhatan Cemetery.
