Richard A. Kozlowski, 56, of St. Clairsville, OH passed away on Wednesday, October 19, 2022 at his home. He was born February 25, 1966 in Wheeling, WV., a son of the late Stanley an Kathryn Makofsky Kozlowski.
He graduated in 1984 from St. Clairsville High School where he played varsity football. He then went on to attend Ohio University Branch in St. Clairsville for 2 years. He then attended Ohio University Athens and went on from there to join the military.
Rich served in the U.S. Navy and received his honorable discharge in August of 1994. Rich was awarded the Navy Achievement Medal, Meritorious Unit Commendation ribbon, Navy good conduct medal and National defense service medal. After leaving the military, Rich began working at the Wadsworth Atheneum Museum of Art in Hartford, CT where he worked as Senior Staff Accountant.
Rich was a kind, sweet soul. He loved his daughter with all his heart. He enjoyed cooking, (making Buckeyes was his favorite), taking day trips and trying new restaurants. He especially loved the water and was at peace near the ocean. While living in CT, many of his summer weekends were spent at Waterford Beach and Harkness Memorial Park where he would fly kites with his daughter and play frisbee with his beloved dog Kimba.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Susan Kozlowski; a brother-in-law, Adam Nicholoff.
Surviving are a daughter, Casey Kozlowski and his former wife, Stacey Kozlowski, both of Waterford, CT.; a sister, Sandra Nicholoff of St. Clairsville; a brother, Stanley Kozlowski of Shadyside, OH; nieces and nephews, Molly Fluharty, Maggy Kozlowski, Sam Nicholoff; a great nephew, Myles Fluharty.
Family and friends will be received on Tuesday from 4 until time of memorial service at 6 pm at Toothman Funeral Home, St. Clairsville with Chaplain Leo Gonot officiating. Final arrangements at the convenience of the family. Full military honors will be conducted by the Belmont County Veterans Association.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Wadsworth Atheneum Museum of Art or Waterford branch of the Humane Society.
