Richard C. "Dick" Kidd, 86 died Tuesday, September 21, 2004 at Crestview Health Care Center, St. Clairsville, Ohio. He lived many years in the Flushing - Holloway, Ohio area. He was born October 14, 1917 at Elm Grove, West Virginia, the son of the late Richard and Linnie Minder Kidd.
A 1936 graduate of Cadiz High School, he retired from Consolidation Coal Company after 33 years of service at the Georgetown Preparation Plant in Cadiz. He served in the Army Air Force during World War II and was a member of Legion Post 366 at Flushing and the D.A.V. Post 117 of Bellaire, Ohio. He attended the Flushing United Methodist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters Jeanette Kidd, Mildred Warwick, Lenore Lindsay, Margaret Arbenz and Avis Pope and brothers James Kidd and Robert Kidd.
He is survived by his wife, Charlotte Klayko Kidd of Zanesville whom he married in May 1943; his son, Cale (Marcy) Kidd of Zanesville; his daughter, Linda (Bill) Cesa of Westlake, Ohio; his son, Rich (Cathy) Kidd of St. Clairsville, Ohio; two grandsons; Rick Kidd of Charleston, South Carolina and Mark (Tricia) Kidd of Zanesville; two granddaughters, Erin Kidd and Chris Kidd both of St. Clairsville; great grandchildren, Karley Jane and Kyle Patrick Kidd of Zanesville and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours are Friday, September 24, 2004 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. with American Legion services at 7:30 p.m. at the Toothman Funeral Home, St. Clairsville where services will be conducted by his nephew, Jake Kidd on Saturday, September 25 at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow at the Holly Memorial Gardens in Pleasant Grove with military honors by the Belmont County Council of the American Legion.
